                        Partners in Education

Crowley ISD and Tarrant County College are forming a new community partnership to offer dual credit courses and college/career readiness programs. Under the proposal TCC South Campus would have a "Center" on the second floor of the Bill R. Johnson Career and Technology Education Center on Highway 1187 and South McCart in Crowley. This comprehensive agreement is in the final planning stages and more details will be announced soon.

We invite you to be part of our planning process with TCC as we also explore "Continuing Education" opportunities for community members. Our planning and course offerings will be based on your input. Please take a few moments to complete this survey so that we can best serve the needs of our community.

HUGE WIN for Floriculture at State! Out of 48 teams, they placed first! Congrats to the team and Mrs. DeShazo!!!!!
 
Oustanding Student Awarded
Mikaela May has been named an Outstanding CTE Student Runner-Up by the Texas Career and Technology Council.  She will be recognized by the Council at a ceremony in Austin.

TAFE Scholarships
Congratulations to the ATPE Scholarship Winners!!!
Jennifer Thompson (CHS Sr.) and Lizet Ramirez (NCHS Sr.) were awarded with a $500.00 scholarship each from ATPE for their hard work and dedication to working with young children.  Each of these students participate in the Education and Training program at BRJCTC.  Jennifer works as a student intern at Deer Creek Elementary in kindergarten and Lizet works as a student intern at Bess Race Elementary in 1st grade.  Both of these students are members of TAFE (Tx. Association of Future Educators).  Jennifer is the vice-president and Lizet is the secretary.  They have completed numerous hours of community service, leadership and educational awarenes in and out of the classroom.  They also prepared, participated and presented at Regional and State competitions receiving awards.

BRJ Teacher of the Year
Congratulations Ms. Vroon!!!!
She is Bill R Johnson CTE Center Teacher of the Year!!! 
Ms. Vroon, has been voted by her colleagues as the Bill R. Johnson CTE Center Teacher of the Year.  Ms. Vroon serves as the Education and Training teacher preparing high school students to be teachers and has developed a model program.  She oversees the student’s as they work in CISD Elementary and Intermediate schools working with teachers and students grades PK-6.  Her club TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators) is an award winning organization at the local, regional and state level.  She also has started and worked with JECOS  the CTE version of student council.  She consistently gives of herself by mentoring new teachers, serves as a representative for DEWIC a district wide improvement council and has the unique ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, her colleagues and the community.  Congratulations to Ms. Vroon for being selected to represent BRJ as Teacher of the Year!

Tarrant County Junior Livestock Show

Crowley FFA won high point chapter at the Tarrant County Junior Livestock Show! 
Four Scholarships were awarded to Breanna Piganelli, Mikaela May, Shelton Beets, and Sabina Hernaiz!  Altogether the kids brought in over $30,000 in the sale on Saturday.
Agriculture Scholarship

Aurora Correa, Ag Science student, has been awarded a scholarship from the Texas Floral Endowment.
TAFE Competition
Congratulations Crowley TAFE Members!!!
Nine Crowley ISD students attended the Texas Association of Future Educators State Conference and Competition on February 12-14 in San Antonio Texas.  Crowley TAFE students participated in competitions receiving awards.

Cosmetology
Good Luck Cosmetology Students!!!!!
They will be competing in a Skills USA Competition Taking place in Waco On February 24th and 25th.  Students who qualify will be eligible for state competitions in Corpus Christi starting March 22-24.  If you have any questions or want to get involved contact the Cosmetology Department at 817-297-3018 ex. 1404/1405

Fashion Design Grant
Congratulations to Mrs. Rich for being a recipient of the 2011 Fashion Club Advisor Grant Award. Based on her hard work, the Fashion Club of BRJ CTEC received a $400.00 check to benefit Fashion Club from FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) located in Los Angeles, CA.

Congratulations Fedie Diaz!!!!
Our Extraordinary Campus Secretary Won the first Hearrtbeat Team Award of the 2011-2012 School Year!
Ms. Diaz has been working in Crowley ISD for 16 years and helped open the Bill R. Johnson CTE Center in 2010. “Fedie is a whirlwind of activity. It is difficult to keep up with her. No matter how large or small the task, she is always a step ahead of me,” said Director Annette Duvall.

Paper Retriever Fundraiser
Recycle your paper, newspapers and magazines with us!  Help support our campus’s effort to be green and earn money for our classrooms at the same time.  Drop your paper only products in the recycle bin in the front parking lot and help BRJ achieve even more.
